796 Red Semi-Cured Drop-Hammer Rubber Compound

Semi-cured rubber drop hammer pads were originally produced by pressing reclaim rubber (scrap inner tubes, tires, etc.) into pads. The product was subject to variation in quality as well as supply. Mosites # 796 compound was developed as an alternate product to stabilize quality and availability. It is used in drop hammer operations to dampen the shock and rebound from the hammer strike. The material flows uniformly under pressure to prevent “chatter” marks on the metal blank. It has enough resilience to return to its original shape for reuse.

The physical properties shown below were obtained on molded 0.080 inch thick ASTM samples. They are typical of Mosites # 796 compounds but they should not be used to set Quality Control Specification minimum requirements.
