Fiber Placement Rollers

Fiber Placement is an automated composites manufacturing process of heating and compacting resin impregnated non-metalic fibers on complex tooling shapes.
Prepregs in the form of “tows” are bundles of fiber impregnated with epoxy resin. Fiber placement machines have the capacity to place multiple tows at a time on a tooling surface.
The tows are fed to a heater and under a compaction roller on the fiber placement machine head. Through the robotic movements of the machine the prepreg tows are placed on the tools surface.
The compaction roller is an integral part of that tow or tape laying process. We supply custom made rollers to meet those very demanding and challenging compaction applications. Tool configuration and prepreg type dictate the need for either very soft pliable rollers or very hard rollers.
We offer a variety roller sizes in a variety of durometers . We offer chemically bonded FEP sleeves on rollers if needed. We have a machine shop that will custom make tooling to provide you with the sizes of rollers that you need. Custom metallic inserts are made to fit your machine head as requested. We can supply bearings and roller shafts as well that are made to your specifications.
